You can rent a beach cruiser in Jacksonville Beach, try your hand at fly-fishing, or go on a deep-sea fishing excursion. Horseback riding among the sand dunes is allowed on some parts of the beach, and the winding St. Johns River offers canoeing and kayaking adventures. Jacksonville Beach is also home to the “Adventure Landing/Shipwreck Island,” which offers family entertainment such as two mini-golf courses, bumper boats, go-karts, a video arcade and batting cages. A waterpark and wave pool is open from March through October. You’ll find reasonable lodging and restaurants in Jacksonville Beach, including one restaurant that is located in a two-story log cabin built in 1934 that features down-home Southern style cooking. For even more shopping and fine dining, visit nearby Jacksonville, which has lots of boutiques, antique stores, art galleries and restaurants.
