When I moved back to Florida 6 years ago to reinvent my life after being widowed at 51, I jumped into real estate in a market where I knew no one at all. One of the things people said is - "This is Florida! Take up golf - you'll meet people who might be potential customers and eventually you might even meet men you want to date" So I did - took lessons with 2 other women, both single realtors also, and much fun was had by all. Haven't met customers on the course but made some friends along the fairways.
Golf is a way of life here in Florida - friends I know have their weeks' social schedule set by which days they play with the couples, which with mens' groups or ladies' groups. Hard for non-golfers to get involved. In Northeast Florida, we have scores of courses, most open to the public: in fact only a handful are not. And reasonable to play - where I lived in my past life, Williamsburg, VA, golf was close to or more than $100 per round per person. Here it is often under $30 to play, even with a cart. Life here is great!
